On Monday and Tuesday of next week, we will be starting a new expository essay. Today you are going to do some research to help you write that essay. In honor of black history month, we will be researching 2 very important people in black history.

Both Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman played major roles in freeing slaves and getting black people their rights. I have given you several links to view and a chart to fill out about these two heroes.

First, I need you to understand how slavery became a part of US history.

Now, I want you to learn more about two of the most influential people in the Civil Rights Movement: Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman.  Use your graphic organizer to keep track of your learning.
