Happy Wednesday!

Today we are going to have a bit of a catch up day. Anyone who needs to enter their test in AWARE or finish typing their essay should do that first.

When you are finished with those two tasks, you will do some online revising and editing practice.

Here are some links I want to you to work through. These are the only sites you should be on at this time!

In the left side column, work through the grammar activities. Pick level 2.

There are several games on this site that will build your revising and editing skills. You may work through any of them on 6th grade plus level!

This site has many games. You may work through any of them on your level that are ELAR related.

AGAIN, I REPEAT...you are to only be on ELAR practice sites. We take our STAAR writing test on Tuesday. Now is crunch time to remember the basics of revising and editing!

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday Project

Spring Break Vacation Project

This is where I'll be!

Part 1 -
Steps to complete your project:

  • 1.      Your mom has given you the chance to research where you want the family to spend spring break.  You will research a vacation destination, find transportation, and find a place to stay and activities  for a group of 4 people. This will be a 5 day trip!  It must be done before we leave for break on Friday.

  • 2.      It will be the final thing we do before spring break.  Work effectively and share all work with me.

  • 3.      You will also create a budget for your trip since we need to practice our math skills.  You will need to keep your budget notes on paper or may create a Google Doc for yourself.

  • 4.      You will create a presentation in Google and share with me.

  • 5.      Your first slide must have your first and last name and the name of your destination.  Please include the state and/or country.

Information that must be included by slides:

Slide 2        History of your destination

Slide 3          Geography of your destination
·         Describe where it is and the topography (islands, mountains, elevation, etc.)
·         Climate and average temperature for the time of visit so you know what to pack

Slide 4           Customs and etiquette
·         What behavior or clothing is appropriate in this place?

Slide 5           Landmarks that tourists would visit
·         Geographic, historical, or cultural landmarks that you would visit – what are they and what do they cost to enter them.  You will have to give me totals for each visit and the days you will be visiting these attractions.

Slide 6           Food native to the location that visitors should try.

  • This means food from that country or part of the world. For example, Japan would have Japanese cuisine like sushi. Find at least 3 foods that the culture eats or invented.

Slide 7          Food
·         What and where will you eat.  List the places and budget for food each day you are on spring break.

Slide 8         Lodging - Where you will stay
·         Find a hotel, the price, and the “amenities” or features the place offers.

Slide 9        Transportation
·         How will you get there and how much will it cost? Air fare for 4 people because you have a partner or gas for a car/truck you drive from home.
·         How will you get around once you are there and how much will it cost?
                        Car Rental expenses

Slide 10     Total Budget for Trip

  • Add up how much your travel, food, activities, and lodgings will cost.
  • Make sure you account for 4 people on the trip
